Fleeting Relief

The splattering of raindrops against the panes,
Holds a soothing grasp of complacency,
Despite the subjective drear that constrains,
The darkness without, lessens inconsistency.

As the lightning illuminates the sky,
And the thunder resounds in the distance,
With the storm, the soul will still comply,
Rather than offer any feigned resistance.

When the sun again makes its presence known,
And the gloom becomes a shadow of thought,
The realization of being alone,
Renders absurd, the inner struggle fought.
