Superhero

I am standing here on the shore,
Safe, sound, and rescued,
With so many others you saved,
And selfishly, I want more.

To be touched, they say, isn't enough.
Flying in to save them,
Set the bar impossibly high,
For how, can they learn to be tough?

How do we proceed from here,
Cloaked in doubt, on the shore of hope,
United only, by the loss of you,
And our desire, that you will reappear?

For you, our gracious Superhero,
Have taken too quickly to flight,
You, on your mission, while leaving us to ours;
Beginning life again, from zero.
